Tim Adwell Art Gallery Open daily at 3205 Madison Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46227, Phone (317) 788-0008 At some point in our lives, most of us only dream of actually giving up our "day job" to work at something that we are passionate about and really enjoy. Something that not only uses our brains, but requires passion from our souls. Tim Adwell, a local artist, fulfilled his dream as he traded in his hard hat from his construction job for an artist's sketch pad.
Adwell, a Greenwood, Indiana native and self-trained pencil artist worked as a construction worker until 1986. Since then he has been drawing Indianapolis and national landmarks and making limited edition prints.
His first work was a pencil sketch of Union Station. At the time, he was a laborer working on the renovation of this famous landmark. He did the sketch during his lunch break and after work.
Some of the other landmarks he has sketched are the "Firemen" raising the American Flag above the ruble of the world trade center after the attacks on Septemeber 11th, 2001. Others include the Lincoln Memorial, the Korean Memorial, Circle Theatre in 1931, Monument Circle, Scottish Rite Cathedral and the Indianapolis 500 mile race in 1919 to name a few.
He now devotes all of his time and talents to creating limited edition historical buildings and scenes. Several of his early editions are now out of print, a tribute to his talent, reputability and popularity.
Adwell's prints, limited editions numbered and signed, are available for $25 each or matted and framed for only $99 each. They make wonderful gifts for home or office.
